Infrared Thermography - Testing your home for heat loss
Thermal, or infrared energy, is light that is not visible because its wavelength is too long to be detected
by the human eye; it's the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that we perceive as heat.
Unlike visible light, in the infrared world, everything with a temperature above absolute zero emits heat.
Even very cold objects, like ice cubes, emit infrared. The higher the object's temperature, the greater the
infrared radiation emitted.
Infrared thermography allows us to see what our eyes cannot. Infrared thermography cameras produce images of
invisible infrared or "heat" radiation and provide precise non-contact temperature measurement capabilities.
It is a valuable diagnostic tool in determining the need for home and commercial building insulation. INTEC
technicians use infrared thermography cameras to see where the air leaks are, and where insulation voids exist
inside wall cavities.
As our society strives to better manage our energy resources and improve the quality of our environment, infrared
thermography cameras provide INTEC with the means to help you, the home owner, make your contribution to the greater
good while lowering your energy bills and improving the comfort inside your home.
